23/08/2009 - Its time to drill it all together

Started off using clamps and long reach clecos to fit the fabricated engine brackets.  The gap between bracket and the bottom strengthener is shown on the plans as 3/32" and as most builders have done a number #40 drill is the right size and is an easy way of maintaining the gap whilst clamping.

Once a few holes are drilled the clamp was replaced by long reach clecos, which were great and was glad I had bought them.

The middle two photos show Bernard hard at work putting 'boelube' onto each hole before I followed with the drill.

Then as usual it was time to take it apart and deburr it all, and finished the day by dimpling the firewall and firewall recess.

But I am out of practise after having 3 months off and the knees are complaining, so must call it a day...must be getting old ;-)

Next up will be
bullet

Smooth the edges of the firewall & the recess

bullet

Countersink the holes in the stiffeners and plates where necessary
